We are a team of teachers, parents, designers, and social entrepreneurs passionate about reducing and ending food insecurity among local students. Get to know us!
Kristina Trusty, Executive Director
Kristina is the Executive Directory of the Fueled For School board. She is a native Hoosier with degrees from both Ball State and Indiana University. As a veteran teacher and seasoned child advocate, she knows what it is like to look into the face of a hungry child. Inspired by a volunteer opportunity at the local food bank, coupled with a need in the community, Fueled For School was born. This busy mom of four can be found making meal packs, teaching elementary school or running a small, local business.
Kaitlin Womack, Creative Director
Kaitlin is our marketing and design guru! Her primary responsibilities include graphic design, brand management, and marketing initiatives. Additionally, she manages our social media and assists with event planning. Outside of the office, Kaitlin enjoys spending time with her husband Brice and Pomeranian Violet. She also enjoys cooking, travel, tennis, and spending time outdoors.
Sharin Scalzo,President
Sharin is a long time resident of Noblesville. She and her husband, Tom, have four wonderful children. She began her career as an audiologist, but took a different path when returning to work after a 15 year hiatus. She is currently an Instructional Assistant for Noblesville Schools. In her spare time Sharin enjoys watching sports, especially the DePauw women’s soccer team. She is an avid baker and loves to share her creations with friends and coworkers.
Sharin’s love of children and food found a perfect marriage when her dear friend, Kristina Trusty, organized a group of Hinkle Creek Elementary School employees to fill weekend meal packs for children with food insecurities. She is honored to serve as Vice President of Fueled for School.
Sarah Brechbill, Director of Transportation
Years back, Sarah’s family of four made a pact to donate time and money to help the hungry. This has taken many forms. From The Little Sisters of the Poor to Wheeler Mission to St. Vincent de Paul, the Brechbills help wherever they can in an attempt end food insecurity.
The Brechbills echo the popular Snickers commercials — You are NOT yourself when you are hungry. Sarah has witnessed firsthand children worried about what they would eat over the weekend and felt called to organize a sustainable solution. She believes that full bellies enable better learning which leads to academic success.
